  [ The Experience ]

101 days ago, I challenged myself to meditate and chant for 40 consecutive days.  

Often times, we forget that what we need is already here and that the blue skies we are so desperately searching for, are here, too.  They are simply just above the grey clouds we are focused on.

Today work day was thrown off a bit due to needing to rest through my first day of my Lady Time.  I started to say screw it to the meditation, but as I sat for the 10 minutes, I found that my tension ease, my belly felt better and I became less focused on the grey of my day.

[ My thoughts about Headspace ]

[ The Takeaway ]

Every day will be different.  Every challenge within the day will be different. But with meditation, I am able to recenter and get focused on what is, which allows me to release into the now.  Just ten minutes a day can go a long way if we just give it a chance!

  [ The Experience ]

100 days ago, I challenged myself to meditate and chant for 40 consecutive days.  

I did it! Today is my 100th consecutive day of meditating and chanting daily.  Earlier, I attended a Yoga of Sound workshop at my yoga studio, and between that and coming home to meditate, I found that my body released more of the tension I have built up the last few days working through some deadlines I have for work.  (Luckily, I got through one of them!)

Sitting to meditate today, I was so surprised when the 10 minutes was up… it flew by! Regardless, I know it was beneficial.

[ My thoughts about Headspace ]

[ The Takeaway ]

After the 10th day, I am thinking I may not continue with Headspace app, simply because I am used to just doing it without an app, and I have a guided meditation that I enjoy. But, that’s in the future, still.  For now, I see that no matter how I choose to meditate, the key is to carve some time to do it because in the silence I am able to hear my body speak by way of aches and pains. As I listen, I can breath into those spaces, as needed, and my tension is released.

In a nutshell, meditation is good stuff! It truly is great for the body, mind and soul.

[ Yoga is breath ]

Yoga is breath. Yoga is breathing, and everything else (the poses, stretches, etc), are bonuses.

If yoga is breath, and sound is made with breath, then today it became clear that Yoga unites sound as energy, as breath, for the purpose of healing and traversing the limitations of the mind.

[ The Experience ]

I attended The Yoga of Sound workshop today.  As we opened with an Ocean of Aum (Om), I was instantly triggered into a state of bliss, a feeling of lightness and peace. I was taken back in time to a period of my life when I chanted everyday and read the Bhagavad Gita when I was 17 into my early 20s.

I chant daily now, not quite like I did then, but it is still a vibrational boost that opens up my Being every time I do it.

[ The Takeaway ]

I enjoy chanting, especially when there is a harmonium as we had in the workshop today.

When I chant with my eyes closed, I see a light that illuminates inside of the darkness.

I think my biggest take away from the workshop is that in chanting, I allow myself to be opened because I am so moved by music and sound (and music and sound, are the highest vibrations that exist).  They connect us to our souls, and as we are connected by these vibrations, we are connected to our essence.

[ Find The Time ]

Ever have those days when everything is flowing creatively? Things flow so well, you don’t want to stop what you’re doing because what you’re doing is so… yummy?

Today was like that.  It was like every moment I was in the zone.

I felt unstoppable, so I didn’t stop.

Neither did time. On days like these, how do you find the time for self care?

[ The Experience ]

I had planned on getting to a Yoga class today, and then time flew by whilst I was having fun doing what I love to do.  As I co-created with the Universe, as Health Coach to my clients, including one who called me unexpectedly for guidance; and as DJ at my weekly Wednesday residency, time slipped by and my plan to attend class became a passing thought.

Did this stop me? Of course not!

I did my practice as soon as I returned from my gig.  I made it happen because I made a commitment to myself to do Yoga today.  My plans changed, but my intention didn’t.

[ The Takeaway ]

When you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way to get it done, no matter what.

On this 20th Day of my 30 Day Yoga Challenge, I am proud of myself for taking the 5 minutes I did today to continue moving forward for my Self.

What I enjoyed the most? Every moment of my intentional, 5 minute practice today.

Because Yoga is breathing; and with every breath, I tapped into my essence.

[ A Recap ]

I often send out emails asking what my clients and audience would like to read about.  I feel there is VALUE in writing, and POWER in writing that speaks to the solving of everyday problems that the motivated people and Entrepreneurs I work with have.

Recently, a client inquired about “How to move away from the stress of NOT Having enough”, essentially in order to have an abundant and exciting business as an Entrepreneur.  Here’s the response I posted.

I received another ask to blog about “how to relax when I just make what I need and not more”. My client went on to ask a few other things, and I responded in a post entitled, “The Top 3 Wrong Ways To Create The Life You Want: A Story In Images”.

Since the holidays are here, today’s Gentle Nudge is about Stress Management.

[ 5 Super Tips ]

It is no surprise that the holidays are here.  That means you are probably being pulled in all directions, and on the inside, you are screaming like a frantic bird.  I’m here to help you lose the overwhelm so you can start to have more joy during these times. It is my sincerest hope that one (or more) of these tips will help you; not just for the holidays, but for managing your stress, in general!

  1. Start Earlier

    I got an email earlier this year from a mentor who had this brilliant, out-of-the-box idea for managing your time, especially around the holidays.  The tip? Start Earlier!

    Think about how much time (and how less stress) you’d have by simply sending out your holiday cards and gifts in June versus in late-November.  With places like Amazon, for example, you can literally send E-GiftCards that can be used any time and for gifts your family and friends will truly enjoy (because they get to choose them).

    So, next year, start earlier! By this time next year, you’ll wish you did! Aside, aren’t the holidays seemingly starting earlier anyway?

  2. There’s Only One Step

    Screen Shot 2014-12-10 at 1.28.35 PMThe other day, this amazing two minute video was posted on my Facebook page.  In it, Oprah chats about a simple principle: At any given time, there’s only one step.  So, instead of being overwhelmed with all the things you have to get done this holiday season, focus on the one thing that you can get done now, then the next, and then the next… Which brings me to #3:

  3. Breathe

    I’ve been doing a 30 Day Yoga Challenge, and what I’ve learned in my 19 days is that yoga is not about poses and being flexible, contrary to popular belief.  In fact, Yoga is about tapping into the power of your breath; for in the breathing comes the ability to handle anything that comes your way. So does, #4:

  4. Delegate

    3 Smart Strategies to Create More Time In Your Day
    Stop. Ask for help!

You can do everything, and you will feel exhausted, resentful and not happy in the process.  Find ways to be more generous to yourself. Start by remembering that you always have the power to say no if you feel overwhelmed.  Say yes to a stress-free holiday by kindly, respectfully saying NO.

[ Thank You ]

How often do you say thank you to your breath?

I mean, really show gratitude… by honoring your breath, by trusting it?

…Trusting that your breath will sustain you and your body through anything?

I have overcome asthma as a child and into my late-20s, so I know what it’s like to not be able to breathe, and then be thankful for the breath.  But, now, I say thank you to my breath, simply because I am learning to trust her.

[ The Experience ]

I did a Yoga Basics class today, and even though I was a bit tired from my hour of Kickboxing prior to class, I found that I really allowed myself to rely on my breath to carry me through.  AND IT WORKED!  At one point, I was even called up as one of the two yogis (am I a yogi? lol) to demonstrate body types to the class, and how all bodies are different… but that yoga is for every body.

No matter the ability. No matter the disability.

I felt empowered today and really felt the energy within me (I felt my belly get hot with energy today) and around me (I felt my arms were slicing through the invisible life force energy as though it were thick).  I felt grounded and solid.

And I thank my breath for helping me feel empower-ful, energy filled and solid!

[ The Takeaway ]

We can chose to let life happen around us, or we can breathe and make things happen for us.  Period.

96 days ago, I challenged myself to meditate and chant for 40 consecutive days.  

It’s Day 2 of this 10 Day Meditation Challenge, and I am nearly to my 100th consecutive day of chanting and meditation.  I LOVE IT! It’s really nice to go inward.

Especially after a cat nap.

I took a lovely 45 minute rest and woke up, put on my headphones and turned on my Headspace App.  Today was better, since Andy seemed to talk less.  Funny thing happened: as I sat on the bed cross-legged in Easy Pose, the cat I am fostering starts to scratch herself on my fingers, and then found her way into my lap to rest as I sat in zen.

I took a cat nap, and then the cat napped on me!

[ My thoughts about Headspace ]

At the end of the session, the guide, Andy, asked how we felt before and after the meditation.  I chuckled, because before I meditated, I felt super relaxed a la nap status. Afterward, I felt rejuvenated for a night of leading a group session, kickboxing and practicing yoga for my 30 Day Yoga Challenge.

All in all, everything is zen… 🙂

[ Why This Matters To Me ]

When I was 3 years old in 1986, my grandma, a devoted wife of 33 1/2 years and a passionate nurse, died of diabetes.  This has greatly stuck in the back of my mind, especially when I had my first scare of attracting the disease when I was 9 years old.  Fortunately, I have not gone diabetic thus far, but it still is something I do think about because statistically, it is killing more and more adults and children than it did in 1986.
