My 30 Day Yoga Challenge, Day 4 (Monday)!
[ What’s Your Banana? ]
Today I learned something in my 4PM Hatha Yoga class that gave me a much needed “Eureka-aha” moment. A “Eureka-aha” is what I like to think of as SO insightful, it’s more than a Eureka and even more than an ah-a. It’s kinda like the Universe slapping you on the face and (gently, yet powerfully) telling you to WAKE UP.
With that, I’ll share with you what I learned:
Apparently, the way to trap a monkey is with a cage that has a hole that is big enough for a monkey’s hand to get into, and small enough for a banana inside to not get out of.
A monkey will stick its hand in the cage to retrieve the banana, and pull and pull. They’ll see the hunter and keep pulling at it. But, the cage is so cleverly designed that no matter how hard the monkey tries, the banana will just stay in the cage. And the hunter just keeps coming, while the monkey holds on to the banana…
What are you holding on to that is no longer serving you?
That’s your banana.
*Disclaimer: I am not a hunter. I am totally a gathering seeds, vegetarian, hippie-like type. AND I also value a good anecdote that moves me forward in my evolution.

[ The Experience ]
Mondays can either go one of two ways… really well, or dreadfully slow.
Today, my Monday flowed well, as I have been focused on the power of release and letting go. This year I have shed a lot of my toxic bananas (and believe me, there were a bunch!) Adding in Hatha Yoga today allowed me to tap into “what is”, to be present, while letting go of what no longer is serving me.
[ The Takeaway ]
We have a lot to let go of, as individuals and as a Human People. I say this on the eve of watching The Ferguson Decision that has placed Americans back into the reason why many of us can’t honestly find a way to “let go”.
So, all I can do, is find ways to let go, for me, for my SELF, first and foremost, and see if it will inspire someone else to do the same. Because, the world will just keep presenting situations and people that can keep us stuck. Ultimately, the choice is up to you to either continue to hold on while the hunter attacks, or find a way to simply just let go…
